A final with an international flavour will decide the KFC Goodwill Schools Football Championship tonight, as Region #7 outfit DC Caesar Fox opposes St. Benedict’s College of Trinidad and Tobago at 19:30hrs at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The contest will be a replay of an earlier group fixture which ended 2-0 in favour of the Guyanese side. DC Caesar Fox earned their berth to the championship match, after defeating arch-nemesis Christianburg/Wismar 2-0 in the semi-final section. St. Benedict’s eliminated defending champion Annai Secondary of Region #9 by a 2-1 score-line to earn their place in the final.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference yesterday held at the KFC location on Vlissengen Road, DC Caesar Fox captain Raydon Krammer disclosed that tournament has been very competitive, and that the team is in a positive space and aiming to win despite the challenge posed by a very technical and talented opponent.

His opposite number, Cunneilus Hannaway of St. Benedict’s College, stated that while DC Caesar Fox was victorious in their preliminary round encounter, the team is confident of “taking the trophy back to Trinidad.”

Meanwhile, DC Caesar Fox Manager Neil Henrito stated that the school, which is known for its football prowess, is aiming to win a major championship that has eluded their grasp for several years, noting that while both teams have the capacity to emerge victorious, he envisions a successful outing for his institution.

On the other hand, St. Benedict’s head-coach Nolan Bernard stated that the tournament has been a wonderful experience for his charges, and that they are in a confident mood heading into the championship encounter.

Petra Organization Co-Director Troy Mendonca, thanked the sponsors and the teams for creating an environment that was conducive to a successful tournament, noting that he expects a very competitive final which has been the hallmark of the event.

Also, Kenneth Moonsammy, Chief Operations Officer of KFC said, “I just want to wish both teams well, and May the best team win.”

Similarly, Esaun Daniels, KFC’s Home Delivery Manager, said that sports plays a pivotal role in character development, adding that the coordinators should be commended for staging a wonderful initiative.
