Trinidad reaches 600 murders

(Trinidad Guardian) A man who was shot in Pinto, Arima on Wednesday has succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

The victim Ashram Williams, commonly called “Sona” of Williams Trace, was the Past President of the Stretch Togetherness Community Group.

His death takes the murder count for the year to 600.

Williams was at his mother’s home at Hoyte Avenue, Pinto Road, Arima on Wednesday when he was shot.

Williams had gone to spend the Christmas season with his mother when the incident occurred.

He was rushed by police to the Arima hospital where he underwent surgery and was warded in critical condition.

Police so far have no motive for the killing.

Angry villagers are asking for an in-depth investigation into the killing.
