Skeldon fisherman, 30, found dead

An Upper Corentyne fisherman was yesterday morning found dead in Corriverton, Berbice.

Dead is Ryan Emanuel, 30, a fisherman of Lot 63 Princetown, Corriverton.

His body was discovered just around 6 am yesterday. Stabroek News was told, that what appeared to be a poisonous substance was found in the man’s bag following the discovery.

According to Chandanie Sukram, 27, the deceased was a friend of hers and her husband Vijay Hemchand and would normally visit their home.

She explained that on Tuesday afternoon Mangal and her husband were imbibing at her residence during which the deceased started to cry. She said that her husband later retired to bed while Emanuel remained outside in the chair.

Stabroek News was told that the man’s body was discovered in a puddle of water yesterday morning just outside of where he was imbibing.

The police were immediately informed and after arriving on the scene examined the body and no mark of violence was seen.

Meanwhile, police in Berbice yesterday also launched an investigation into the alleged death by hanging of Christina Latchmanan,  19, a clerk attached to the Albion Sugar Estate, of Lot 217 Nigg North Squatting Area. 

Her body was discovered yesterday morning.
