LONDON,  CMC – Bermuda’s number one goalkeeper Dale Eve has joined Bedford Town while keeping his dual registration with another British club, Hereford FC.

Eve, 27, was thrown straight into action at the weekend despite being signed only on Friday, but could not prevent his new side suffering defeat on his debut as Bedford went down 3-1 at home against Hednesford Town in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

Although Eve will still be an option for Hereford – nicknamed the Bulls – “we would like to wish him all the best in his new challenge with Bedford Town”, sixth-tier English National League North outfit Hereford said in a statement.

Bedford, who currently lie 16th of 22 teams in the table, said they were “delighted” to welcome Eve.

Bedford manager Paul Davis said: “Dale arrives at the Eyrie highly recommended. He is a big, agile keeper with international games under his belt and we welcome him to the club.”

Eve enjoyed a dream debut with Hereford in October when he helped his new side clinch a shock 2-1 away win over fifth-tier National League side Bromley to seal a place in the FA Cup first round.

Eve, who left Hereford rivals Spennymoor Town at the end of last season, was once on the books of former Premier League club Stoke City, where he was considered a top prospect.

Eve later had brief spells with Forest Green Rovers and Ilkeston before returning to Bermuda and playing for club side Robin Hood in 2017.

While at Stoke, Eve made his international debut for Bermuda at the age of 16, making him the Potters’ youngest ever international player.

Eve’s Bermuda team-mate Willie Clemons, a 28-year-old midfielder, was forced off with an early injury during Braintree Town’s 3-1 defeat away to promotion-chasing Havant & Waterlooville in the National League South on Saturday.
