GCB reschedules start of first practice match

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has postponed the start of the first of two practice matches aimed at arriving at the Guyana national team for the upcoming Cricket West Indies’ Regional first class season.

This is according to a release from the GCB.

The first of two scheduled practice matches was due to start tomorrow but will now begin on Saturday instead.

The GCB did not give a reason for the postponement but the inclement weather might be the cause.

“The first Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE) four-day Practice match scheduled to commence on Thursday, January 12, 2023 has been postponed,” the release stated.

“The first of two matches will now begin at the Guyana National Stadium (GNS), Providence on January 14 and conclude on  January 17, ” the release added.

According to the release, the second match has also been rescheduled to begin January 19, and conclude January 22. 

The matches are scheduled from 0930 hours to 1630 hours each day.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles will play their first Cricket West Indies match against Barbados Pride at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua from February 1 to February 4. On the completion of the first round match, the Guyana Harpy Eagles will travel to Grenada to engage the Windward Island Volcanoes from February 8 to February 11 at the National Stadium.

 The GCB’s senior national selection committee under the Chairmanship of Ravindranauth Seeram has selected the following teams to participate in the first practice match. The players are as follows:

Veerasammy Permaul X1:-  Permaul, Mathew Nandu, Tevin Imlach, Kevlon Anderson, Akshaya Persaud, Rampertab Ramnauth, Shemar Yearwood, Junior Sinclair, Ashmead Nedd, Ronsford Beaton, Isai Thorne, Nial Smith, Richie Looknauth, and Garfield Benjamin.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul X1:- Chanderpaul, Kemol Savory, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Mavindra Dindyal, Anthony Bramble, Kevin Sinclair, Alvin Mohabir, Gudakesh Motie, Anthony Adams, Shemar Joseph, Sylus Tyndall, Demetri Cameron, Jonathan Rampersaud and Zynul Ramsammy.
