GOAL launched in Moruca and Mabaruma

Minister of Housing and Water, Colin Croal, on Sunday launched the 2023 Certificate Scholarship Programme of the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) in the Mabaruma sub-region of Region One.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Housing and Water, the programme was launched during an outreach at the Northwest Secondary School Annex by Croal accompanied by Regional Chairman, Brentnol Ashley and Regional Vice-Chair, Annansha Peters.

The release stated that interested applicants were informed that they will be able to pursue programmes in technology, banking and finance, business management and marketing, agriculture, health and environmental sciences etc., at institutions such as the University of the West Indies and Jain Deemed-to-be University in India.

The certificate programmes aim to foster educational development among individuals who do not have formal qualifications and provide a stepping stone for them to pursue Diplomas and Degrees. Croal urged the attendees to take full advantage of the initiative.

With regards to internet connectivity, the ministry’s release quoted Croal who said that resources will be provided to ensure that the region’s ICT Hubs are functional. A similar outreach was also conducted in the Moruca sub-region on Saturday, 21st Jan 2023.
