Dear Editor,
During my budget speech 2023, I made reference to our beloved speaker and his seemingly direct bias and unfairness towards the Parliamentary Opposition. Of course, he opted to defend against this and say he is not. But as recent as yesterday, another incident occurred that highlighted a pattern of unfair and bias behaviour. I submit for your own judgement the use of words in Charles Ramson’s presentation that was quoted from Mark Twain and the use of words in Sherod Duncan’s presentation that was disallowed. “I’m reminded of a quote from Mark Twain, where he said let’s be thankful for fools because without them the rest of us wouldn’t be able to succeed.” Sherod Duncan, “President Barack Obama in his first inaugural speech in 2009, speaking to an equally divided nation said “Those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent…..” Speaker interjects on Sherod’s presentation and ruled on the use of an un-parliamentary word, specifically the word, ‘corruption.’
Throughout the debates the Speaker continues to show his true colours but as the old saying goes, “long time done, short time left.”
