President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Mike Singh and Secretary General, Patrick Haynes, are tipped to be reelected when the body holds it Elective Congress tomorrow at the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) Olympic House, Block XXX Plantation Lililendaal, East Coast Demerara.
However, Stabroek Sports understands that Alex Graham, Vice President, Marketing, will not be seeking reelection.
Tomorrow’s 2023 Elective Congress will include “a comprehensive agenda including the presentation of reports for the period 2020-2022 and the election of executive officers for the term 2023-2027,” a release from the federation stated.
“All sub-associations and members are hereby invited to nominate candidates for the following executive positions: President, General Secretary, Three – Vice Presidents (Programmes and Development, Marketing and Public Relations, and Discipline), Treasurer,
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer,
Technical Advisor,
Three – At-Large Members
All full members are entitled two (2) votes and may represent only one (1) association.
Meanwhile it was disclosed that the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) and the Central America and Caribbean Basketball Confederations Elective Assemblies are scheduled for February 13th and 14th respectively in Miami, USA. A two-day FIBA Plus Workshop for National Federations is also scheduled for February 11th and 12th in Miami, USA prior to the Elective Assemblies.
According to the release, the FIBA Plus Performance Programme is designed by FIBA to assist National Federations in the development of basketball in their country by helping them implement a sustainable strategic plan.
The workshop will include dynamic and interactive lectures by FIBA staff and consultants along with group activities. The main topics will include:
Planning – Process of Planning; How to create SMART objectives? How to monitor the plan?
Governance – Fundamentals and Key Principles
Grassroots – Coaches and Officials Development
3×3 Basketball – Development and Event Management
