Minister in the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar on Monday afternoon honoured his pledge to residents of Tower Road, Yarrowkabra with the distribution of 60 water tanks to households in the squatting area.

A release from the Ministry of Public Works said that the tanks will ease concerns that the nearby operators of a sandpit may have contaminated and restricted a spring used for residential water.

Indar was accompanied by Minister Kwame McCoy who reminded residents that the distribution is a testament to the partnership between the PPP/C Government and citizens at the community level.

The release noted that on January 21,  Indar had conducted a follow-up meeting with the community in keeping with a commitment made by President Irfaan Ali at an outreach in Yarrowkabra to address residents’ issues.

Despite the handing over of the tanks,  residents have major  concerns about where they will be able to source water to fill their tanks. They are also concerned that their spring may never be restored following the damage caused by sand trucks.
