The official fixtures for the ninth Milo Secondary Schools U18 football competition was disclosed yesterday during a simple presentation ceremony at the Brandsville Hotel, Prashad Nagar.

The tournament, which commences Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, will feature 32 teams competing in an initial group stage format comprising eight groups of four teams. The top two finishers from each pool will advance to the round of 16 stage.

Petra Organization Co-Director Troy Mendonca stated that the complete fixtures will be disclosed shortly, adding, “considerations of adding another group which would not affect the flow of the tournament is being considered and this is because of the response from the teams and the enthusiasm. If we decide to go down that path we will inform you.

“The tournament starts on Saturday and will consist of a March Past of the teams expected to participate on the day and the teams from Georgetown that are not playing on that day,” said Mendonca

The winner of the event will pocket $300,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy, with the second, third, and fourth place finishers walking away with $200,000, $100,000, and $75,000 respectively for a school initiative and the corresponding accolade.
