The competitive racing season continues tomorrow with the staging of the second edition of ‘One Guyana’ Bartica Cycling Classic. 

In what is gearing up to be a scorcher on the asphalt roads in the Region 7 town, the cyclists will unchain their competitive juices for lucrative cash prizes and trophies in the United We Stand Cycle Club organized event. 

Set to roll off at 09:30am,  the fixture is set to attract the nation’s best wheelsmen to the ‘Gateway to the Interior’.

Briton John who has dominated this season so far, winning the last three races, will be eager to defend his title won at the inaugural staging in 2019.

He will be a marked man in the peloton along with his namesake, Jamual John.

The Johns (no relation) have won all of the races staged during the season so far and will look to continue their dominance on the local circuit. 

The likes of Romello Crawford, Chris Griffith, Robin Persaud, Alex Mendes, Curtis Dey and Aaron Newton will also be gunning for the top podium spot.

RACE SEQUENCE:

Ladies, Juniors and Juveniles will start at 9:30am and will be riding for 45 minutes with an additional two laps. 

Masters under 45 and Masters over 45 will be riding together one hour with an additional two laps. The Seniors will ride for one hour and 45 minutes with an additional two laps. 

Other cyclists who wish to take part in the seniors event will be permitted to do so. 

There will also be a Citizen-race with the villagers, the Mayor of Bartica , the Deputy Mayor, the Regional Chairman, the Deputy Regional Chairman, REO, and club leaders. 

Team United is inviting the Minister of Sport, the Honorable Charles Ramson Jr. along with the Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle to grace the event with their presence. 

It will be a fun and massive day of cycling all in the spirit of promoting ‘One Guyana’ and in a healthy way through cycling.
