Boxing prospect, Alesha Jackman’s campaign at the ongoing International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championships which is being hosted in India, ended yesterday.

The light welterweight pugilist, suffered a second round stoppage against Khadichabonu Abdullaeva of Uzbekistan in their round-of-32 bout at the nine-day event being staged at The Indira Gandhi Arena.

Jackman, in her first international duty outside of the Region, showed inexperience during her debut at the championship and was outclassed by the seasoned Abdullaeva.

The referee put an ending to the contest at the 1:08 mark of the round two.

Alesha’s older sister, Abiola, who is also in attendance at the fixture, lost her opening round-of-16 heavyweight bout via unanimous decision loss to Nupur Sheoran on Thursday. The sisters would have cashed in handsomely had they made it to the medal rounds.

Medal winners will be awarded prize money; gold medallists will earn $US100, 000, silver medallists $US50, 000, and bronze medallists $US25, 000. The overall prize fund is $2.4 million.
