Chase Academy in 16 goal rout of Bygeval

Former champion Chase Academy, Santa Rosa, Vryman’s Erven, and Mackenzie High clinched wins when the 9th Milo Secondary Schools U18 Football Championship resumed yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.

 Chase Academy thumped Bygeval 16-0. Jade Daniels led the rout with a hat-trick in the 11th, 20th, and 33rd minute, while Neeiaz Baksh [30th and 44th], Darius Chester [35th and 50th], Shakeem Welcome [41st and 52nd], and Seon Cato [16th and 61st] supported with respective doubles.

Contributing to the score with individual goals in the fifth, 36th, 58th, 60th, and 70th minute respectively were Justin Alcindor, Manasseh Anderson, Ronny Yaw, Wendell Pickett, and Shai Williams.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa crushed St Stanislaus College 3-0. Travis Jarvis netted a brace in the 10th and 26th minute while Nelon Lucas scored in the sixth minute.

Similarly, Vryman’s Erven dismissed West Demerara 5-0. Darius Stephens bagged a brace in the seventh and 44th minute, whilst Daniel Sohai tallied a second-half double in the 56th and 70th minute. Adding a goal was Deandirel Logan in the 59th minute.

On the other hand, Mackenzie High edged Patentia 2-1. Azenio Benjamin and Aziz Grant scored in the 27th and 79th minute respectively. For the loser, Marvin Jeffrey found the back of the net in the 30th minute.

The event will feature 32 teams competing in an initial group stage format comprising eight groups of four. The top two finishers from each pool will advance to the round of 16 stage. The winner of the event will pocket $300,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy, with the second, third, and fourth place finishers walking away with $200,000, $100,000, and $75,000 respectively for a school initiative and the corresponding accolade.
