Venezuela won the men’s team event and Guatemala the women’s when the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) table tennis qualifiers continued yesterday at the National Gymnasium.
In the men’s final Venezuela defeated Guatemala 3-0 while the Guatemala women’s team came from behind to edge favourites the Dominican Republic 3-2 in a pulsating final yesterday.
The Guyana men’s team defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 for fifth place while the women’s team went under 2-3 to Costa Rica and placed sixth.
Both teams have qualified for the CAC championships set for later this year.
