Fresh off of their 2-0 defeat of Bermuda Saturday in a Group B match of the Concacaf Nations League, Guyana’s Golden Jaguars will turn their attention to Montserrat in their final group encounter knowing that they have already qualified for the Gold Cup.

As such, Jamaal Shabazz’s Jaguars will look to continue to roar over the cellar dwellers whom they have already defeated in the only match between the two countries.

That previous encounter on June 4, 2022 ended 2-1 in the Jaguars’ favour and today, with the knowledge that not even a defeat can prevent them from participating in the Gold Cup, the Golden Jaguars will be able to play without any pressure whatsoever.

Today’s match at the Wildey Turf Stadium in Barbados will bring to an end the Golden Jaguars Concacaf Nations League campaign.

The Golden Jaguars are on nine points and Coach Shabazz will probably tinker with the starting line up with an eye towards the Gold Cup which takes place in June.

It will be the Golden Jaguars’ third consecutive Concacaf Gold Cup tournament.

However, players such as Liam Gordon and Jeremy Garrett, who scored against Bermuda and Emery Welshman, Bayli Spencer-Adams, Omari Glasgow and Jaylen James, who were all outstanding will undoubtedly play key roles in today’s encounter.

Montserrat, who are at risk of relegation, sits on three points at the bottom of the table, after losing 0-4 to Haiti in their previous fixture.

Undefeated Haiti is positioned at the helm on 13 points while Bermuda sits third on four points.

The Golden Jaguars could be in contention for the top spot depending on the Montserrat-Haiti result.

The Golden Jaguars’ 23-member squad, which is administered by head-coach Jamaal Shabazz comprises 12 foreign-born players. The overseas contingent comprises Goalkeepers Quillan Roberts (Western Suburbs, New Zealand), Kai Mackenzie-Lyle (Welling United, UK), Defenders Jaylen James (Cray Wanderers, UK), Bayli Spencer Adams (Leicester City, UK), Liam Gordon (Walsall, UK), Kadel Daniel (Folkestone Invicta, UK), Samuel Cox (Welling United, UK), Jonathan Grant (York United, Canada), Midfielders Nathan Moriah Welch (Newport County, UK), Elliot Bonds (Cheltenham, UK), and Forwards Emery Welshman (Forge, Canada) and Tre Medford (Boston United, UK).

On the other hand, the locally born or based cadre features Goalkeeper Akel Clarke (Slingerz), Defenders Colin Nelson (GDF), Jeremy Garrett (Slingerz), Marcus Wilson (Caledonia AIA, Trinidad and Tobago), Midfielders Curtez Kellman (Police), Daniel Wilson (Western Tigers), Leo Lovell (Slingerz), and Forwards Omari Glasgow (Chicago Fire II, USA), Pernell Schultz (Police), Trayon Bobb (Western Tigers), and Kelsey Benjamin (GDF).
