Chase Academy, Bartica and Ann’s Grove through to quarterfinals

Chase Academy, Bartica, and Ann’s Grove secured quarterfinal berths in the 9th Milo Secondary Schools U18 Football Championship, following round of 16 victories yesterday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Carifesta Avenue.

Chase Academy mauled New Central 7-0. Seon Cato led the rout with a hat-trick in the 10th, 43rd, and 75th minute, whilst Duqain Damuels, Vash Neeiaz, Chai Williams, and Justin Alcindor found the back of the net in the fourth, sixth, 72nd, and 86th minute respectively.

On the other hand, Bartica bested Charlestown 3-1. Ezequiel Baldeo, Shawn Bobb, and Shawn Leitch scored in the first, 23rd, and 89th minute respectively. On target in the loss was Andre Carto in the 11th minute.

Also, Ann’s Grove edged Patentia 1-0. Daniel Murphy found the back of the net in the 40th minute.

The winner of the event will pocket $300,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy, with the second, third, and fourth place finishers walking away with $200,000, $100,000, and $75,000 respectively for a school initiative and the corresponding accolade.

The event is sponsored by Nestle (Milo) via Massy Distribution. It is sanctioned by the Ministry of Education and supported by the Guyana Football Federation.
