Man on trial over murder at BV

The trial of Rawle Munroe who is accused of fatally stabbing ex-soldier Edward Beveney back in 2018, is currently underway before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court in Demerara.

The 12-member jury hearing the case was em-panelled yesterday morning. 

The indictment against Munroe is that he murdered Beveney on May 26th, 2018 at Beterver-wagting, East Coast Deme-rara (ECD).

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Beveney, called ‘Akim’ and ‘Buddha,’ 23, formerly of Lot 115 Ogle Street, Triumph, ECD succumbed to injuries he sustained, after being stabbed several times about his body; including his chest and left eye.

The State’s case is being led by Prosecutor Cicelia Corbin, who will be calling just under a dozen witnesses to testify.

Meanwhile, Munroe is being represented by defence attorney Teriq Mohamed.
