Melanie, Dynamic FC clash tonight in grand finale

Melanie and Dynamic FC will contest the final of the East Coast Reunion Cup this evening at the Golden Grove Community Centre ground, following semi-final wins on Friday evening at the aforementioned venue.

The Melanie outfit and the Dynamic FC unit bested Elite League sides Buxton United and Ann’s Grove respectively in an identical route.

Melanie overcame Ann’s Grove 4-3 on penalty kicks following a 0-0 score-line at the end of full-time.

The penalty shootout which was witnessed by a small crowd failed to separate the teams at its start as both teams converted from the spot in round one.

Separation then occurred in the second round, as Melanie romped to a 2-1 lead following a conversion, while Ann’s Grove missed from the distance by firing the effort over the crossbar.

Melanie then handed Ann’s Grove a chance to equalize as they failed to score to start the third stanza following a smart save by the goalkeeper. However, Ann’s Grove to capitalize on the opportunity as they were denied by the opposing custodian.

The fourth round witnessed the score morphing to 3-2 in favour of Melanie as both teams found the back of the net.

Needing only to score to seal the result and a place in the today’s final at the start of the fifth round, Melanie made no mistake as they calmly converted into the corner.

Meanwhile, the Dynamic outfit squeaked past Buxton United 4-3 on penalty kicks, after full-time ended scoreless.

The losing semi-finalists will compete in the third-place playoff at 19:00hrs.

Over $1,000,000 in cash and prizes will be afforded to the top four finishers. On the individual side, a motorcycle will be awarded the event’s eventual Most Valuable Player.
