Silver Bullets win on sudden death penalty kicks

High Rollers, Silver Bullets, DC Ballers and YMCA recorded contrasting wins when the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden Championship commenced Friday evening at the Silver City hardcourt. 

High Rollers overcame Taliban 2-1 on sudden death penalty kicks following a 0-0 score at the end of normal time. Similarly, Silver Bullets edged One Side 3-2 on sudden death penalty kicks after regulation time ended scoreless.

 Meanwhile, DC Ballers mauled Dark Side 4-0. Nicholas Gentle recorded a hat trick in the ninth, 10th and 11th minute whilst Kwesi Quintin scored in the fourth minute.

 In another fixture, YMCA edged Presidential 3-2. Jamal Bentick scored in the second minute whilst Keyshawn Dey recorded a ‘Guinness Goal’ (GG) [a goal scored in the final two minutes counts as two] in the 13th minute. For the losing team, Shemar Caesar and Maurice McCurdy scored in the sixth and 12th minute respectively.

The tournament continues on Wednesday at the Christianburg Hard-court. Below features the complete list of results.

The winner of the event will pocket $400,000, whilst the second, third, and fourth place finishers will receive $200,000, $150,000, and $80,000 respectively.
