Joel Williamson and Abiola Jackman both won their respective international bouts via unanimous decision on Saturday in Barbados.

Williamson fighting in the (elite 57-60kg) won against Barbadian, Ju-Sean Shepherd while Jackman’s hand was raised at the end of the contest against Kemara Stuart also of Barbados on the card which was staged at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium.

For their heroics, Williamson was awarded the best boxer overall trophy, while Jackman won the best female boxer accolade.

The two boxers, accompanied by Coach, Lennox Daniels, returned home yesterday afternoon.

In an invited comment Daniels told this daily that “I think their performances were  top class, I couldn’t ask for nothing better. They did what they had to do, listened to their instructions and came out victorious.”

The pair along with a nine-member boxing unit, represented Guyana this past weekend in St Lucia and in the ‘Land of the Flying Fish.’
