Ann’s Grove, Buxton Stars in hard fought wins

Ann’s Grove and Buxton Stars recorded hard-fought wins when the East Coast Demerara leg of the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) U17 Boys Football League continued on Sunday evening at the Buxton Community Centre ground.

Haslington overcame Ann’s Grove 2-1. Akin Baynes and Isaiah Alphonso found the back of the net in the 10th and 29th minute respectively. On target in the loss was Nigel Grant in the third minute.

Buxton Stars battled past Dynamic by a 1-0 score-line. Deshawn McPherson etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 31st minute.

In the Berbice Zone, New Amsterdam (NA) crushed Paradise Invaders 5-0. Akeem Hosanah, Civion Arokium, Joshua Dougall, Nicquan Smauels, and Kymani Spellen scored in the 10th, 16th, 45th, 65th, and 68th minute apiece.

Similarly, Rosignol United mauled Ithaca 12-2.

The NAMILCO U17 Championship, which is compulsory for all nine GFF regional associations, will have two phases – the intra-association league, which will decide the best teams in each regional association, followed by a championship round to crown the national champions.
