Drawn affairs highlight Masters Football League

It was an afternoon of drawn affairs when the inaugural edition of the Isun Health Conscious Masters Football League continued Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club ground, Bourda.

Fruta Conquerors and Club 45 played to a 2-2 stalemate with Fordyce Freeman and Chad Rodrigues netting in the eighth and 27th minute respectively for Club 45, whilst Elroy Parks and Delon Williams found the back of the net in the 17th and 37th minute respectively for Fruta Conquerors.

Similarly, Alpha United and West Side battled to a 1-1 score. Shem Porter found the back of the net in the 15th minute for West Side whilst Gordon Henry equalised for Alpha United in the 40th minute.

On the other hand, Pele and the Guyana Defence Force played to a scoreless affair whilst Beacons and Santos played to an identical result.

The event which commenced on April 30th, will be contested utilising a league format and features 11 teams. A win is worth three points, with a draw and a loss equating to one and zero points respectively.

At the conclusion of the event, the team with the most points will be crowned the champion. The winner of the competition will pocket $200,000 and a trophy, with the second, third, and fourth-place finishers receiving $100,000, $60,000, and $40,000 respectively, and the corresponding accolade.

On the individual side, accolades will also be presented to the Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, Best Midfielder, Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender and Best Coach.
