A thirty-two-year-old driver of 994 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus to answer to three charges of fraud that were read to him.

It is alleged that between 1st and 28th February 2022, at Georgetown, Quacy Hitt attempted to defraud Deojarratan Singh of the sum of $200,000 by falsely pretending he was in the position to secure him a firearm licence.

It is also alleged that between 1st March and 30th April, 2023, at Georgetown, Hitt intended to defraud Dennick Vanslutyman the sum of $250,000 by false pretending that he was in the position to secure him a firearm licence.

It is further alleged that between 17th and 30th March 2023, at Georgetown, the man intended to defraud Mark Phillips the sum of $1.5 million by falsely pretending that he was in the position to secure him a firearm licence.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

The police prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the address which was provided by the defendant at the police station did not correspond to the address given at Court, the prevalence of the matter, and the fact that the defendant has a similar matter to be heard at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.

Hitt was granted bail in the sum of $550,000.

Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus ordered the defendant to lodge his passport and to not leave the jurisdiction until the completion of the matter.

He is expected to make his next court appearance on June 13.
