Nicholson seeking to defend CARICOM 10K road race crown

A podium chasing trio of standout distance athletes, Marlon Nicholson, Winston Missigher and Attoya Harvey departed yesterday for Trinidad and Tobago to compete in the CARICOM 10k road race.

Nicholson is the defending champion of the race which will be staged tomorrow and he is gunning for a repeat.

At the 2022 event in Paramaribo, Suriname, Nicholson clocked 33 minutes and 25 seconds to win the men’s event, while Jozeanne Harris of Jamaica was the first female to cross the line, doing so in 44 minutes and 49 seconds.

This year’s 10K marks the 16th edition and serves as a pre-event for the annual Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, where CARICOM will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The inaugural CARICOM 10K was held in 2005 to commemorate the United Nations International Year of Sport and Physical Education.

The three athletes are accompanied by  Nadine Trotz who will manage the group.
