A twenty-seven-year-old man, who police say was found in unlawful possession of a firearm, has been granted release on $75,000 bail.
Derwin Drakes (address not stated) appeared yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the city court, on a charge of possession of an illegal firearm.
The charge states that on June 27, at Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, he had in his possession an unlicensed firearm while he was not the lawful holder of a firearm licence.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge that was laid against him.
Bail was granted in the sum of $75,000 under the condition that the defendant lodges his travel documents and reports to CID Headquarters every Friday commencing on July 7, until the completion of the matter.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on July 20.
