Ramdhanis fall at quarterfinal stage in Mixed Badminton doubles

The Ramdhani siblings of Narayan and Priyanna were eliminated last night at the quarterfinal stage in Mixed-doubles Badminton at the 2023 Central America and Caribbean Games.

The duo withdrew from the match in the second set against the Jamaican duo of Samuel Ricketts and Tahlia Richardson. At the time of the aforesaid decision to retire from the match, the Guyanese combination was trailing 0-1 after losing the first set 7-11.

The Ramdhani siblings had advanced to the quarter-final after defeating ninth-ranked Colombia duo of Miguel Quirama and Juliana Giraldo 2-1. The combination lost the first set 13-21, but clinched the second and third stanzas 22-10, and 21-17 respectively.

Meanwhile both players participated in their individual singles division but suffered losses. Narayan Ramdhani was eliminated in the Round of 32 by Uriel Canjura of El Salvador after losing straight sets 21-11, 21-3 in the men’s singles division.

Priyanna Ramdhani started off positively in the Round of 32 after beating Costa Rica’s Cristal Villarreal 10-21, 11-21 but was eliminated in the Round of 16 after losing to Eneida Santizo.

Santizo took first strike by winning the opening set in a close encounter 22-20 but Priyanna was not going to roll over and eventually dominated the second set, winning 15-21. However, the Guyanese lost set three 21-12 to end her stint in the women’s singles division.

Meanwhile, Aaliyah Moore finished sixth in the Women’s 800m final with a time of 2:07.00.
