Westminster wins maiden Region #3 Digicel Football title

Westminster was crowned the Region #3 champion in the Digicel Schools Football Championship, defeating home side Leonora Secondary on penalty kicks yesterday at the National Track and Field Centre.

Westminster secured their maiden zonal title after prevailing 5-4 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 2-2. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Ezra Clarke and Ezekiel Caesar netted in the 10th and 20th minute respectively for Westminster whilst Tromayne Hercules and Joshua Medouze scored for Leonora in the 14th and 29th minute apiece.

On the other hand, Vreed-en-Hoop defeated Patentia 3-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 2-2 in the third place playoff. Preceding the aforesaid result, Nico Boyce and Gregory McKoy scored in the 25th and 57th minute apiece for the eventual winner during regulation time whilst Marvin Jeffrey and Devon Forde were on target for the loser in the 18th and 63rd minute respectively.

Meanwhile, Charity dismantled Anna Regina 4-1 in the Region #2 section at the Anna Regina School ground. Oundra Sobers bagged a double in the 30th and 65th minute Enrique Edwards and Renold Davidson scored in the 21st and 43rd minute each. On target in the loss in the 10th minute Azriel Monderson.

Likewise, Abram Zuil crushed Cotton Field 4-1. The quartet of Emani Duncan, Joshua Kendall, Omar Duncan, and Jeraldo Culpepper netted in the 38th, 43rd, 59th, and 64th minute respectively. For the loser, Adon Stephney found the back of the net in the 17th minute. The tournament continues today with several matches.
