Man charged with assaulting wife after videoing dispute

Julius Innis (address not stated) appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus where he was charged with assault.

It is alleged that on July 9, the defendant assaulted his wife to cause her actual bodily harm.

The court heard that the Innis and his wife live together in the same house with their daughter.

They are not on speaking terms due to prolonged domestic violence. On the day in question at about 11:50 hours, Innis and his wife got into an argument over his alleged attempt to make a video of her with his cellphone, which she objected to. During the argument, Innis pushed his wife causing her to fall onto a table in the house. They then got into a fight resulting in her sustaining injuries to her hip and finger.

The police prosecutor did not object to bail but requested the defendant be placed on a restraining order and ordered to keep away from his wife.

Bail was granted in the sum of $20,000.

He is expected to make his next court appearance on 2nd August for statements.
