A group of farmers who are also members of the Trafalgar/Union Community Development Council (CDC) are seeking the government’s intervention to reclaim lands they say were illegally taken from them.

A Ministry of Agriculture press release said Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, and Minster of Public Service Sonia Parag recently met with the CDC to discuss some of the issues faced by farmers including the land.

According to the press release Mustapha stated that the ministry would have to engage the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Anil Nandlall. He also extended his assistance to the farmers with their agricultural activities.

He told them that he would visit the area to discuss how the government can assist with developing agriculture there.
