The Guyana Water Inc (GWI) says it is conducting a 24-hour drilling operation at Sixth Avenue, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, in a bid to restore efficient water supply to the community and environs by September. The well collapsed in April, causing major disruptions in water supply.

Villages including Farm, Prospect and Perseverance are also affected as a result of the disruption of the well. Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, inspected the site of the new well on Friday. The well is expected to be drilled to a depth of 700 feet and is currently at 200 feet.
