Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club standouts, Kwame Ridley (centre) and Romello Crawford (left) occupied the top two spots in the KFC/SWU Brokopondo Classic road race this past weekend in Suriname.

Kwame Ridley and Romello Crawford placed first and second in the Open category and Paul Chooweenam won the over 50 category last weekend at the KFC/SWU Brokopondo Classic road race in neighbouring Suriname.

Ridley and Crawford of the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club and Chooweenam, of Team Alanis, were outstanding over the weekend, defying the odds to cop the top two spots in the gruelling event which was staged in hot conditions in a hilly terrain in Suriname last weekend.

According to reports, the wheelsmen in the peloton started out strongly and pushed themselves to their limits over the gruelling course, testing their strength and endurance.

As the race continued, individual members of the team began to struggle with the physical demands placed upon them, yet they persevered and ultimately succeeded in completing the race Suriname’s Xavi Wadili placed third.
