Jamual John romps to victory in Macedo Memorial cycle event

Defending champion Jamual John, in a time of three hours, 14 minutes and 24 seconds yesterday won the Victor Macedo Memorial road race organised by the Flying Stars Cycle Club in collaboration with Macedo Transportation Services.

He won last year’s event

Second place went to Bryton John while Curtis Dey was third.

The three cyclists broke away from the pack until they were caught by teen sensation Alex Leung who placed fourth.

Sean Hubbard and Paul De Nobrega took the next two positions.

Leung took five of the sprint prizes with Hubbard, three and Kwame Ridley and Dey taking one each.

Hubbard won the veteran’s Under50 category Alex Mendes and Paul Chooweenam respectively while, as expected, Leung, who finished in three hours, 14 minutes and 34 seconds,  was the top junior cyclist with Ajani Cutting second.

 Junior Niles was the winner of the veterans Over 50 event in a time of three hours, 34 minutes and 22 seconds with Ian Jackson second and Mark Spencer, third while Alex Newton and Daniel Jiang were the top two juveniles.

 Clavecia Spencer won the ladies category from A. Jeffrey while the Keon Thomas and Julia Melville were the top two BMX cyclists.
