Jamual John wins Team Alanis sponsored 50-mile road race

Star cyclist, Jamual John brought his talents back to Guyana and rode off with the spoils of the Team Alanis sponsored 50-mile road race yesterday.

John who was plying his trade on the U.S circuit with Team Foundation, returned with a bang, besting the likes of Curtis Dey and Briton John who joined him on the podium.

Top veteran, Robin Persaud, Romello Crawford and standout junior rider, Alex Leung filled out the top six overall positions for the sun-baked event which was staged from Camp Ayangana to Mahaica and back.

John clocked to lead the peloton across the tape in the event which attracted the cream of the nation’s wheelsmen.

Leung led the junior brigade with United We Stand Club-mate, Aaron Newton finishing second.

Persaud was the leading Master rider with Kwame Ridley and Segund Hubbard trailing in second and third in that order. Junior Niles crossed the line first in over-50 category, followed by Mark Spencer and Talim Shaw

According to reports, the next cycling event on the calendar is set for Sunday. It will be the 21st edition of the Victor Macedo 80-mile road race sponsored by the Flying Stars Cycling Club.
