The Ministry of Health yesterday commissioned the Fort Ordnance Health Centre in Region Six.

The newly established health centre is equipped with all the materials and resources needed to provide quality services to residents, a release from the ministry said.

During his remarks, Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony said that the ministry has been working to develop health care in Region Six.

“We are making investments in the construction of two new hospitals in Region Six. These hospitals will be completed by early 2025,” Anthony stated.

The minister noted that the New Amsterdam Hospital will also be upgraded to a level five facility with improved services.

Regional Health Officer, Dr Vishalya Sharma, in her remarks stated that the region has been making efforts to make health services more accessible within the Fort Ordnance community.

“Today we are extremely happy that we can be able to move in to our own building and provide all the services needed. We hope that in the coming years we will be able to expand and provide much more,” Dr Sharma said.

Also in attendance were, Dr Nabil Uthman, National PAHO Consultant; Narindra Persaud, Regional Executive Officer; David Armogan, Regional Chairman; and other officials.
