Police ranks from Regional Division #10 were on mobile patrol duty on Sunday in the vicinity of the Coomacka Mines Junction, Upper Demerara River when they observed motorcycle CH# 8670 coming in the opposite direction.

A release from the police said that the motorcyclist was carrying a large bulky plastic parcel strapped to the back of the motorcycle.  On seeing the Police, the suspect turned the motorcycle around and rode away from the ranks who gave chase. During the chase, the suspect eventually stopped the motorcycle, jumped off and escaped through some nearby bushes leaving the motorcycle and bulky plastic parcel behind.

Police took possession of the parcel and, upon checking, discovered that it contained leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be Cannabis.

The suspected Cannabis, along with the motorcycle, were taken to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the said suspected Cannabis was weighed and photographed and amounted to nine  pounds.
