(Trinidad Guardian) A 29-year-old hospital attendant was killed in the parking lot of his workplace early yesterday morning.

Police said Marvin Safe was driving his car into the parking lot of the Arima Health Facility, at around 6.30 pm when a black Nissan X-Trail that was following him drove alongside his vehicle.

A gunman who was in the X-Trail shot Safe several times before driving off on Queen Mary Avenue.

Security guards at the compound called the police and officers of the Northern Division Task Force and the Arima CID visited the scene.

A district medical officer was also called in who declared Safe dead.

NCRHA CEO Davlin Thomas visited the scene. He told Guardian Media security guards were on the compound at the time of the shooting.

He said it was a brazen attack, with multiple people involved in the attack. He said there will be a review and assessment of the incident.

He said it was a sad day for everyone and there will be social services intervention for staff.

Also on the scene was the victim’s father Hugh Safe who said his son lived with him and was known only to go to work and return home, and to his knowledge, wasn’t involved in any nefarious activities.
