(Trinidad Express) An Acting Senior Superintendent of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), has been charged with malicious damage.
Julien Johnson, who is attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), was also charged with three (3) other offences:
- Failing to produce a driver’s permit;
- Failing to produce a certificate of insurance;
- Resisting arrest.
The charges were laid after an investigation by the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) and advice received from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard.
The charges stemmed from an incident which occurred on January 20 at the Windsor Building, Hollis Avenue, Arima.
According to the victim, at around 1:00 p.m. after parking his vehicle in an area on the compound designated for employees, he observed a security officer telling the driver of a white Nissan Frontier to remove his vehicle.
The Frontier was parked in an area in front of the victim’s vehicle. The victim also intervened telling the driver the area was reserved for workers. The driver allegedly refused.
The victim proceeded to his workplace and shortly after approached the driver again requesting he remove his vehicle but the driver allegedly refused again.
Later that day, the victim was alerted by an argument in the area and on checking his car, observed the rear of the Frontier had come into contact with his vehicle causing damage to the bonnet of his vehicle.
Police Officers who arrived at the scene after the incident was reported, asked the driver of the Frontier to see his driver’s permit and certificate of insurance, but he allegedly refused and became abusive. He was arrested and taken to the Arima Municipal Police Station.
