Three arrested after cannabis discovered in Friendship house

Three men have been arrested following a police raid at a house at Friend-ship, East Bank Demerara (EBD), that led to the discovery of 450 grammes of cannabis.

During an intelligence-led operation on Thursday, police ranks went to house located at Friendship, where they spoke with 56-year-old Richard Charles, who claimed to be the owner of the house. The ranks informed Charles of their reason for being there and asked if they could search the premises. The man agreed and invited the ranks inside to conduct the search.

Upon entering, they found two men who identified themselves as John D’Ornellas, 28, a vendor of Block ‘X’ Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, and Jerome Bernard, 42, a labourer of ‘C’ Field, South Sophia, George-town. During the search in a bedroom, they discovered under the bed, a bulky transparent parcel containing a quantity of leaves seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The men were told of the offence and cautioned, Charles then claimed that D’Ornellas and Bernard were occupying the bedroom.

They were all arrested and escorted to the Dia-mond Police Station along with the cannabis which when weighed amounted to 450 grammes.

Further investigations are ongoing.
