Contrasting wins for Rupununi, East Bank Demerara

Rupununi and East Bank Demerara recorded contrasting wins when the 2023 edition of the Thunderbolt Flour Power Under-17 Academy Football Championship continued Saturday at the National Training Centre in Providence.

East Bank crushed Georgetown 4-1. The quartet of Albert Adams, Ian Daniels, Solomon Austin, and Antwoine Denny found the back of the net in the third, seventh, 16th, and 43rd minute. For the loser, Chris Witter etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 38th minute.

Rupununi then edged West Demerara 4-3 with Adrian Cabral, Guy Moses, Romel Ernest and Andre Farias crafting the comeback with conversions in the third, 59th, 68th, and 72nd minute respectively. For West Demerara, Shakeel King bagged a brace in the 32nd and 40th minute while Jeremiah Humphrey netted in the 41st.
