The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Potaro Strikers recorded commanding victories when the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Women’s Division 1 League commenced Saturday at the National Training Centre, Providence.
GDF thrashed Fruta Conquerors 13-0. Glendy Lewis tallied five goals in the second, 34th, 48th, 63rd, and 84th minutes. She was assisted by Abioce Heywood [sixth and 43rd minutes] and Glengie Lewis [eighth and 80th minutes], who recorded respective braces.
Chipping in with goals in the third, 29th, 32nd, and 77th minutes apiece were Yeneira Kenswil, Kellyann Niles, Odessa Romeo, and Naomi Williams.
Similarly, Potaro Strikers crushed Santos 12-0. Ocivia O’Selmo [seventh, 10th, and 35th minutes], Solomon Obermuller [second, 40th, and 55th minutes], and Tytheon Jones [26th, 28th, and 42nd minutes] recorded respective hat-tricks, while Latoya Williams, Ovane Williams, and Anis Livan scored in the third, seventh, and 25th minutes, respectively.
