The annual Randolp `Duckie’ Singh Memorial cycle road race is set for October 28 and is expected to attract fierce competition from the nation’s top cyclists.

The race will begin from the JB Singh road, opposite the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground.

However, the route will be made public at a later date according to the organisers, the Flying Star Cycle Club.

The event is being organized in memory of Singh, a former president of the club.

Singh passed away in November of 2021 at age 69 after an extended period of illness. Singh was known for his philanthropy when it came to sports of all disciplines. He was the owner of the popular `Duckie’s General Store’ located at Russell and Sussex Streets, Charlestown.

Jamual John, one of the country’s leading cyclists, won last year’s event and will be looking to defend his title. Jamual John held off Briton John in a sprint to the finish line to win the event after the duo led the race from start to finish. This year promises more high octane action and interested cyclists are urged to make contact with Victor Rutherford.
