In an effort to acquire funds for their impending Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) swim meet, Dolphin Club conducted a fundraising fitness walk on Saturday, October 14th, which commenced at the Colgrain Pool on Camp Street and concluded at the National Aquatic Centre, Liliendaal.

The walk, which started at 6:00 a.m. and lasted for approximately 90 minutes, was attended by a throng of club members as well as individuals from other swimming groups, including the Trident Club.

Club President and national swim coach Paul Mahaica, during a post-walk comment, said, “This walk is for raising funds to take the children to ASATT (Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago), and already we would have already raised funds to buy the attire like the tracksuits and jerseys. In the end, it’s not only a fitness walk; it’s a walk to raise funds for the kids.”

The competition will be held in the Twin Island Republic from December 13th–17th.

He further said, “ASATT is a club meet that Trinidad hosts, and for some of the children, it will be the first time they are going to a swim meet outside of Guyana, so they are really excited, and we as the adults have to find ways and means on how to raise funds, and that is what we are doing with this walk. Each club is taking their own team, but we have 19 children and four coaches who are participating from the Dolphin Club.”

According to Mahaica, additional fundraising mechanisms and avenues will be explored by the club as they strive to acquire the requisite finances to make the trip possible.
