Corentyne man attacked with cutlass while walking home

A Corentyne man is now a patient at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after he was attacked by two men armed with cutlasses on Sunday while walking home along the Friendship Village, Corentyne Public Road.

Suresh Persaud, 30, a labourer, of Lot 52 Friendship Village, Corentyne, Berbice, sustained chop injuries to his left ear and other parts of his body.

Police are currently on the hunt for his attackers identified as ‘Pappo’ and ‘Sunny’ both of Friendship Village.

The incident reportedly happened around 9 pm along the Friendship Village Public Road, Corentyne.

According to the information gathered, Persaud was initially at a shop in the village and shortly after left to head home on foot. However, while walking home on the Friendship Public Road it was reported that he was approached from behind by the two armed suspects and an argument ensued.

During the argument, the men allegedly chopped Persaud on his left ear and about his body.

He was picked up by public-spirited citizens who at that time had intervened and was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was treated by a doctor on duty and was transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he remains a patient.
