Great opportunity for Trinidadians but what about Guyanese?

Dear Editor,

There was a job fair held in San Fernando Trinidad and Tobago on the 20th of October 2023. According to the ad it was “Geared towards individuals seeking employment in the Guyana market” and this is for the oil and gas industry. Great opportunity for the Trinidadians which begs the question – what about Guyanese? Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe I read somewhere in the PSA that Exxon is supposed to train Guyanese to take over certain jobs. Could the Oil and Gass Czar, Bharrat Jagdeo, say how many Guyanese have been trained so far by Exxon? I would not ask Trotman or Granger nor Moses Nagamootoo because I know none had been trained during their term of office. This is among other reasons they were voted out of office.

I understood a long time now that neither of the two parties have an interest in the Guyanese people.  They, their friends, cronies and donors are the ones they care about. It is time Guyanese come to grip with this fact. Stop fighting each other. Unite to hold government accountable. It is time, we the Guyanese people, move away from these two dinosaurs who have manipulated us over the years and who have gotten us to fight each other as our unity is a tool that would force them to act in our interests.

Sincerely,
Rajendra Nauth Bisessar
