Procurement Commission should conduct a comprehensive investigation as to how these 287 road contracts were allocated

Dear Editor,

I write to express my growing concern over the recent distribution of 287 road projects in New Amsterdam, Region 6, by the Ministry of Public Works. The allocation of these projects,  has raised serious questions about the fairness and transparency of the National Tender Board and Procurement Commission. The allocation of contracts undermines the principles of fairness and accountability that should be upheld in the awarding of public contracts.

The fact that veteran contractors, who have demonstrated their competence and expertise over the years have been omitted, accentuates the glaring issues with this procurement process. The exclusion of seasoned contractors like Chris Jagdeo, who have a proven track record is indeed perplexing. Additionally, it was brought to my attention that contractors with a history of substandard work, were awarded contracts valued at significant sums, which raises questions about the quality and value for taxpayers’ money. In light of these revelations, I strongly urge the Procurement Commission to conduct a comprehensive investigation into these matters. It is essential to restore public confidence in the transparency and fairness of the procurement process.

The citizens of this nation deserve a procurement system that prioritizes merit, experience, and the best interests of the public over political affiliations and personal connections. I implore the Commission to rectify these issues promptly to ensure that our tax dollars are allocated judiciously and in a manner that serves the best interests of our communities and our nation as a whole.

Sincerely,
