Republic Drive crushed Sideline to walk away with the Beterverwagting Inter-Block football competition Friday evening at the Community Centre ground.
The final was a thoroughly lopsided affair watched by a mammoth crowd as Republic Drive dismantled Sideline by a 6-1 score.
Dorwin George, who was eventually adjudged the event’s Most Valuable Player, led the rout with a hat-trick.
Due to the outcome, Republic Drive copped the championship trophy and walked away with $300,000, whilst Sideline received the runner-up accolade and $200,000.
In the third place playoff, the Gulf Warriors unit defeated Ogle Street 3-2 to pocket $100,000 and the resulting accolade while Ogle Street received $50,000 and the corresponding trophy.
In the U17 final, Sideline defeated Ogle Street 1-0.
In the individual presentation, Jermaine Cumberbatch of Republic Drive copped the Best Goalkeeper title. The event was coordinated by Team Cruel and DJ Darry.
