A Mibicuri South, Black Bush Polder family is now mourning the loss of their loved one after she reportedly  crashed into a parked trailer while returning home on her motorcycle on Saturday evening.

Dead is Zaleena Khan, also known as ‘Tina’, 25, a part-time security guard, of Mibicuri South, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice.

Khan’s father, Nazim Khan, when contacted yesterday explained that his daughter was at a Bar-B-Que in the area with her husband. However, he said, that she left around 9 pm on her motorcycle to head home and her husband left shortly after on his motorcycle.

According to the man, it was reported to them that while on her way home on the Black Bush Polder main access road, Khan was struck from behind by another motorcycle and as a result of the collision, his daughter was pitched off of her motorcycle and ended up underneath a parked trailer on the public road.

Her husband who was just a short distance behind rendered assistance as relatives say that the motorcyclist who allegedly struck her fled the scene.

However, Commander of Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus yesterday relayed that the person who reported the matter was “dishonest” adding that further information would be communicated.

Based on CCTV footage, it is being suggested that the woman who was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the accident, rode into the parked trailer.

The elderly father yesterday said that his daughter was rushed to the Mibicuri Hospital by her husband but succumbed while en route. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
