A fire last night completely destroyed a Canefield furniture business.
The fire started at the business which is located in West Canefield, East Canje Berbice just after 10 pm. There were two houses in the yards – one was completely destroyed by the blaze.
Frustrated residents last evening lashed out at the Guyana Fire Service as they attempted to fight the blaze. The hose which was being used leaked due to several throughout. This has been a recurring theme at fire scenes despite assurances that the hoses are in good condition.
The owner of the premises known as “Chulaman” and his relatives last evening stood and watched on as all of their belongings were completed destroyed.
As of press time, the firefighters continued to battle the blaze.
