Elite League champion, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Western Tigers will contest the final of the KFC League Cup following semifinal wins on Sunday evening at the Eve Leary Ground, Kingston.

The GDF outflanked the Guyana Police Force (GPF) 7-2. A second-half blitz from the army settled the encounter, as five unanswered goals sealed the result following a 2-2 halftime score. Colin Nelson and Chris Macey netted for GDF in the eighth and 28th minutes, while Travis Henry and Adrian Aaron were on target for GPF in the third and 36th minutes.

However, GDF dominated the second stanza, as Delroy Fraser bagged a brace in the 83rd and 84th minutes, while Abumuchi Benjamin and Ian Dooker scored in the 76th and 87th minutes, respectively. Adding to the result was an own goal in the 65th minute.

Meanwhile, Western Tigers mauled Buxton United 6-0. The contest seemed destined to be a competitive affair, as a marginal 1-0 score separated the teams at the halftime interval. However, five conversions in the second period sealed the eventual score-line. Randolph Wagner crafted a second-half hat-trick in the 47th, 49th, and 79th minutes, while Jermaine Beckles, Daniel Wilson, and Andrew Murray scored in the 23rd, 63rd, and 90th minutes apiece.

The final is slated for Sunday at the same venue. The losing semifinalists will contest the third-place playoff.
