Qualander, Cox cop titles at Pistol Shooting Championships

Mohamed Qualander and Jason Cox closed off the year with titles in the Senior and Junior categories respectively in the Guyana National Rifle Association practical Pistol Shooting Championship on Sunday last at the Timehri Rifle ranges.

Dubbed the ‘Christmas shoot’, the end of year event saw competitors shoot across two stages in  tests of speed and accuracy under the judgement of Club captain Gordon Richards.

Meanwhile, the unpredictable weather at Timehri did not deter Qualander who emerged the overall winner in the Senior  Category with an outstanding shooting performance that saw him besting Chad Melville and Shawn  Smith who placed second and third respectively while elder statesman Harold ” Top Gun” Hopkinson managed fourth place.

 In the Junior Shooter division, Jason Cox came out on top with Glendon Fogenay and  Vivian Crandon placing second and third in that order as Rickel Benjamin came in fourth.  The presentation of trophies was done by Captain Richards who thanked the competitors and  range officers for their participation.
